We believe that a true and comprehensive
understanding of Islam would not be possible without careful recognition of the
Prophetic Tradition and the Prophet's Household. And Allah is the Source of Strength.
He Only Says To It, Be, And It Is
" Why were we created? Or Why was creation made in the first place? There maybe different ways to answer this question, but the most simplistic answer is, that creation was made by Allah, because he could!
As the Quran says (3:47), Allah creates what
He pleases; when He has decreed a
matter, He only says to it, Be, and it is.
It is very important to understand that although we all testify that authority belongs to Allah, we do not understand it. Absolute Authority cannot be questioned, justified or rationalized. When we start questioning authority, and try to question its logic, righteousness etc, that means that we think that authority needs to make sense and needs to abide by certain rules. Once the authority has to abide by certain rules, it does not remain "The" authority any more.
Allah created because he can. Simply put. Can someone do anything about it? Absolute authority belongs to Allah and no one can question him.
But when we say Al Hamd to praise Allah, it is for a reason. Had Allah willed, he would have left us helpless, without sustenance, he would have tortured us and we could not have done anything about it. He is the absolute authority, and all praise is to him, because he chose to be beneficent and merciful, he justified his authority and rationalized our creation.
As the Quran says (44:38), Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. (23:115) What! did you then think that Allah had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to him? (51:56-58) And Allah has not created the jinn and the men except that they should serve him. Allah did not desire from them any sustenance and that they should feed him as surely Allah is the Bestower of sustenance, the Lord of Power, the Strong.
The purpose of our creation is to serve him; not only through Salaat, but also by being kind to the poor, and by greeting a better greeting than received just to name a few. An angel serves Allah without a choice. Our service is more meaningful and that is why Prophets are men and not angels, Princes of paradise are men and not angels and angels have been facilitating us humans (as bringer of revelations, protectors, scribes for our deeds etc) and not the other way round.
When the authority belongs to Allah, then nothing can happen without his stamp of approval, as that is the very essence of absolute authority. What is there then for a believer to worry about, until he does not truly understand the authority of Allah.
When Imam Hussain (AS) had buried his sons and was surrounded by the enemy in hunger and thirst, he said that verily this is a very difficult time for him full of pain, troubles, sorrow and tribulation, and that after the loss of a son like Ali Akbar (AS), life has lost its charm, but the only thing that comforted the Imam (AS) was, that Allah was watching all of it (and hence his will will Inshallah prevail).
