About

We believe that a true and comprehensive understanding of Islam would not be possible without careful recognition of the Prophetic Tradition and the Prophet's Household. And Allah is the Source of Strength.

Fid Dunya

" When I was visiting the Kaaba for the first time in my life for Umrah, i was told that whatever prayers are asked the first time you lay your eyes on the Holy Kaaba in person, will `be accepted. It made me think what to ask when i look at the Kaaba for the first time, imagine getting a wish which will be granted. I kept on thinking what to ask and i realized there was so much to ask for, there was not one thing which if granted would be sufficient for myself. It occurred to me that what could have been better than what the Prophet (SAW) would have done as under his (SAW) wisdom he (SAW) would have prayed for just the right wish which a man would have needed to be successful.

The Prophet (SAW) in a similar situation prayed what Surah Baqra Ayah 201 also declared; Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

What is this world, the Fid Dunya, that the Prophet (SAW) had prayed for himself (SAW) as well?

I thought that we have been praying for good in this world ever since started salaat but the good just never comes to us. Money, fame, glamor, bigger house, bigger car etc. What is this good in this world that the Prophet (SAW) prayed for at the Kaaba that was given to him (SAW) as well. Surely the Prophet (SAW) died soon after his first Hajj, did not live a lavish life and his (SAW) life was full of trials and tribulations which included death of his sons at young age, leaving his own city, being raised as an orphan, maligned as being a mad man, facing fierce opposition from the powerful and so on.

And then i understood when i also came across the saying of the Prophet (SAW) who said, that, any one who wakes up in state of health, and is in state of peace (or with their loved ones, or in their own homes), and is not worried about that days sustenance, is as if he has been blessed by Allah all the treasures which are between the heaven and the earth.

Now it makes sense, the good we seek for ourselves in this world, a long life full of its luxuries, is just a simple life full of health, being able to spend time with our families and being given sustenance for the day we wake up to.

While we are worried about what will happen to our children tomorrow and our income tomorrow and our property tomorrow, the reality is we are not guaranteed a tomorrow, and while we have today, we must make the most use of it, for worship and repentance.  "
